Here is a simple idea:

• Riders pay for accepting rides
• Drivers collect money for providing rides

Pay4Rides is just a concept to harness the power of Passenger Energy.  I do not know how to actually implement this and get other people involved.  My hope is to make a good argument to get people talking so we could work together to make this a reality.

I think today we all feel sort of helpless and wonder what we can do as individuals. The rising gas prices are making it too expensive for some people to even drive to work.  Passenger Energy would introduce a Pay Per Ride (PPR) concept turning every commuter into a potential energy saver.  Just imagine going for a walk and being able to flag down any car for a ride.  Everyone becomes a potential taxi to provide limitless rides to every passenger.

If everyone began sharing rides we could all save money on gas every single day.  Drivers could earn extra money by just doing what they are already doing anyway.  We could greatly reduce traffic, decrease green house gases and lower our foreign imports to help strengthen the US dollar.  All of this, without spending any government money on new development or research.
