Concerns

Safety concerns could be addressed by developing a rating system (like eBay) for both drivers and riders.  Additionally, pricing for any ride could be based on a sliding scale involving many factors.  The quality of the ride, distance and time of day could all factor into the price for any ride.

What would it take for you (driver) to stop and pick up a passenger(s)?  Obviously safety would be a major concern. The benefits would include the potential to earn cash for every ride you provide.  Additionally you would be contributing to a cleaner world, help to reduce traffic and possibly save hours on your weekly commute by benefiting from HOV lanes.

What would it take for you (rider) to accept a ride?  The major concerns of any passenger would be safety, convenience and comfort.  The benefits would include saving money, contributing to a cleaner world, getting things done while someone else drives and extending the life of your own vehicle.

People share rides all the time with family and friends.  What are your concerns?  Share them here with any ideas you have to ensure the safety of any participants.
